Wincanton

Elegant Georgian houses and coaching inns record Wincanton's importance as a staging post on the main London to Plymouth road. In the 1600s the town provided stabling for nearly 300 horses. Nowadays visitors from across the UK come to enjoy the horse-racing on the hill-top course above the town.

Wincanton is officially twinned with Ankh-Morpork - the premier city state in author Terry Pratchett's fantasy Discworld novels - which is represented in the town with its own consulate!

Be sure to make time to visit the unique Cunning Artificer's Discworld Emporium and Wincanton museum.  For nature enthusiasts, Moldrams Ground Nature Reserve is just a short drive away and then take a drive through nearby Bayford and Stoke Trister to Cucklington for wonderful panoramic views.
