Somerton
Overview
Somerton is the perfect spot to spend a relaxing day whiling away the hours in a pretty market town, enjoying local tearooms, pubs and independent shops, taking in the old charm in every corner.
There are many delights within the town including an old market place with a lovely Buttercross which is floodlit at night. Around and in the Market Place you can find the old Town Hall, which is now a gallery and workshop venue managed by ACEARTS, the old courthouse and arms houses. Somerton also has many wonderful churches, some of which date back to the 15th Century.
Nestled in some of the most attractive and scenic Somerset countryside, there are many walks and cycling trails for all abilities. The Viaduct Fishery specialising in course fishing with six well stocked lakes is nearby too.
Somerton has a vibrant community and hosts many indoor and outdoor events year round, including an annual week long Arts festival held in July.
