The Hermitage
Overview
The Hermitage is a charming, luxurious self contained wooden lodge nestled between trees and hidden away in the grounds of Compton Durville’s 17th Century Manor House.
Located just outside the village of South Petherton in the heart of South Somerset, minutes away from the A303.
First built in 1937 as a Cricket Pavilion to commemorate the coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth. It was later home to Sisters of the Community of St Francis and rebuilt in 2021 after being decimated by an oak tree in 2018.
The newly built space is light and bright & perfectly suited for two, the property includes newly fitted kitchen / TV sitting room (with log burner + unlimited firewood), modern bath & shower room + WC, double bedroom, private garden, outdoor terrace, BBQ & dining area. Travel cot/camp bed available on request for couples with children.
There is a spacious garden to the rear of the Hermitage overlooking a private wildflower meadow which flowers beautifully from Spring to Summer. Dogs are welcome.
As a guest at the Hermitage, you’ll also have access to a few other wonderful extras. Such as our outdoor fire-pit (think marshmallows!), fresh eggs, and a welcome basket filled with local goodies on arrival. No detail has been overlooked to ensure this is a perfect holiday home for your countryside break.
Access to the Hermitage is off Shapway down a private driveway. Guests have the on site parking space directly outside the Hermitage. From here it is a few steps through a private gate to the front door.
